The Practised Art of Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-Wrinkle injections are not a one-size-fits-all treatment. On the contrary, it takes quite a bit of skill, requires an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy and they should always be administered by a trained dermatologist or aesthetic nurse. Whereas a beauty salon or a pop-up beauty bar might promise results, they often don’t take the time to assess their patients on a case-by-case basis and prescribe blanket treatment plans for everyone. The result? Unnatural, frozen looking skin.

At London Real Skin, it’s a practised art. Dr Martin Wade has been administering anti-wrinkle injections for over 15 years and, in Australia where he studied dermatology, it was a requirement of his course.

He believes in customised results and by conducting a thoughtful evaluation of the patient’s concerns, goals, facial muscles and natural facial movements, he’s able to design an injection plan. What’s more, he sets realistic expectations for his patients.

“I always answer my patients’ questions honestly and encourage them to explore other options if it doesn’t seem like anti-wrinkle injections will help them get to where they want to be,” Dr Wade said.

Awareness and experience are both required when administering anti-wrinkle injections and, after 15 years, Dr Wade has both. Over time, he’s picked up tricks of the trade that help him give patients optimal results. He adjusts the number of units he injects and the placement of those units to accommodate natural facial features. For example, he’ll have to approach a patient with a naturally heavy forehead differently than he would another patient. At a beauty bar, that same consideration might not be taken and could result in an unfortunate mistake.

“Anti-wrinkle injections are not like colour by numbers, and some people treat it that way,” Dr Wade said.

Our  the value in experience and adapts to each individual patient.

At London Real Skin, it’s about making the patient feel good.

“We don’t want the results to be blindingly obvious. Instead, we want our patients to receive compliments like ‘You look really well!’. It’s about looking natural and healthy and feeling good about yourself,” Dr Wade said.

After two weeks, when the injections have taken full effect, the patient is always asked back to the clinic to make sure that they’re happy with the results. If not, they’ll work together to come up with a treatment plan.

By visiting a clinic within a medical dermatology center, patients can receive real, evidence-based treatments administered by trained professionals. If you’d like to make an appointment for anti-wrinkle injections or any other laser or cosmetic treatment, contact London Real Skin today.
