You may hear Profhilo being referred to as many different things. An ‘injectable moisturiser’, a ‘skin booster’, a ‘real life Instagram filter’ or even the ‘icing on the cake’.
Over the years, Profhilo has built up a cult following among those of us who love skincare and are searching for ways to feel good in our own skin.
But what exactly is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a non-invasive, effective bio-remodelling treatment which has anti ageing properties and improves skin laxity, skin quality and hydration. It is an ultrapure hyaluronic acid which integrates directly into the skin.
When injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid can draw 1000 times its own weight in water, leaving skin looking fresh and radiant with a hydrating glow.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin, but when we age our cells produce less of it, and the hyaluronic acid we already have starts to degrade. This can lead us to lose skin elasticity and volume and results in us having fine lines and wrinkles.
Is Profhilo the same as dermal fillers?
Although Profhilo and dermal fillers are both made from hyaluronic acid the consistency of these 2 separate products are quite different. Dermal fillers are made of a thicker hyaluronic acid which are designed to add volume and structure.
Profhilo has one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market. It is a thinner product than you’ll find in most dermal fillers. The consistency of Profhilo allows it to integrate directly into the skin tissue. It doesn’t fill or volumise the skin in the way dermal fillers do or change the contours of your face. Instead it gently stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water into the deeper layers of the skin.
What can I expect from a Profhilo treatment?
Profhilo is administered via a series of injection points on the face, but can also be used on other areas including the neck, decollete, hands, arms, knees and abdomen. You may experience slightly raised areas at the injection points where the product has been introduced but these will naturally disperse over a few hours leaving you with a hydrated glow whilst also tightening, lifting and improving skin laxity.
How many Profhilo treatments will I need?
Most people will require 2 treatments, 4 weeks apart with follow up maintenance treatments every 3 -6 months. Each patient is different and it may be decided that your individual treatment plan may differ slightly. Booking a consultation at London Real skin with one of experienced practitioners will allow us to create a unique plan to tackle your individual skin concerns.
When will I see results from Profhilo treatment?
In clinical studies optimal results are visible after 2 treatments with a 1 month interval, however the starting point of your skin health could affect this outcome.
Can I use Profhilo in conjunction with other treatments?
Yes. Profhilo works well as a complementary treatment with other injectables like wrinkle relaxing injections and dermal fillers and with skin maintenance treatments like Hydrafacials. We also see fantastic results when combining Profhilo with BBL treatments
Profhilo and BBL Forever Young
The BBL Forever Young treatment uses Broadband light to target skin concerns such as sun damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne, rosacea, vascular lesions and wrinkles. When this treatment is combined with Profhilo we see a marked improvement in skin tone and quality.
Who is Profhilo for?
Profhilo is a treatment that most people can benefit from. If you are a young adult or older, male or female, Profhilo can give your skin a boost and improve how you feel about the way you look.
Younger adults who are not suffering from the first signs of ageing may want to have Profhilo as part of their skin maintenance, giving them smoother looking skin with a soft filter like appearance.
If you’re older and are already tackling the signs of ageing, Profhilo can help add vitality back into your skin.
If dermal fillers aren’t for you, Profhilo can be an option to help your skin look its best without adding any additional volume. Alternatively, if you have had fillers, you can also have Profhilo to give your skin an additional boost.
