Treatment trends 2021

What will be the defining aesthetic treatments of 2021?

There are some new treatments on the horizon, and also some existing treatments that continue to make headlines. We have provided you with some of the biggest treatment trends we believe will continue to draw attention, and those to certainly look out for in the coming year.

More and more, patients are on the search for non-surgical cosmetic procedures that are designed uniquely for them, that are affordable, quick and simple to carry out, and that provide natural-looking visible results.

Here are some of our top picks that deliver on these key points, and that we foresee being a highlight and gaining greater popularity in the new year.

Top of the list, is the Non surgical blepharoplasty-an evolution technology- that targets the eye area. It really is all about the eyes presently and how we can best rejuvenate and regenerate the skin and reduce the tell-tale signs of ageing.

The Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty treatment with Nano Plasma (Plexr)  is an effective treatment for patients with excess skin on the upper and lower eyelids. For those who wish to avoid scalpels or major surgery but wish to help tighten the skin around the eye area, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin tone and texture- then the Non-surgical blepharoplasty is the optimal alternate choice.

Next up, anti wrinkle injectables that target the eye area, in particular crow’s feet. Just 3 years ago, in 2017, the cosmetic surgery industry in the UK was worth around 3.6 billion pounds, with injectables accounting for 9 out of 10 procedures, estimated at around 2.75 billion pounds and growing. These treatments continued to rise in 2020 during the pandemic with many seeking ways to boost self-confidence and for certain cosmetic procedures, to make use of the downtime. Injectables are also on the rise in the younger generation with young women aged 19-30 considering cosmetic treatments as a preventative measure for skin ageing or treat concerns that affect body confidence, like a non surgical rhinoplasty to smooth and shape the nose.

Anti-wrinkle injections are also not permanent and can be reserved. They are a simple, non-surgical treatment that safely and effectively smooths fine lines and wrinkles temporarily. They work by targeting the underlying cause and minimising muscle movement. Results are visible within 24 to 48 hours and the treatment lasts for 3-4 months however with continued use some patients may find the results last for up to 6 months or even longer, dependent on a variety of factors. There is no downtime and minimal side effects, and the treatment is quick and simple to carry out. Anti wrinkle injectables are effective not only in cosmetic treatments but also to effectively treat medical concerns such as teeth grinding (bruxism), migraines and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

When it comes to face and neck anti-ageing treatments that are non-invasive and have no downtime, and no side effects, one very popular, break-through treatment is Biodermogenesi. London Real Skin was the first Clinic in the UK to pioneer the treatment. It is safe and clinically proven to work and we have seen very successful results on the body for the reduction of cellulite and stretch marks. We have also seen the leading technology effectively treat the face and neck by the filling of wrinkles, lifting of facial features and improving skin suppleness and texture, resulting in brighter, tighter, youthful-looking skin. Inclusivity and treatments being suitable for patients of all skin types is an important treatment trend for 2021. Biodermgoenesi, is suitable for ALL skin types as we have seen with many of our own patients.

The PRP facelift (which you may have heard being referred to as a ‘Vampire Facial’ or ‘Vampire Facelift’) was all the talk in 2013 when Kim Kardashian shared images of her bloodied face across social media. Why blood you ask? Well PRP involves withdrawing a small amount of a patient’s blood, spinning the blood in a machine called a centrifuge in order to isolate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the red and white blood cells, and then re-injecting the platelets into the patient’s face to produce brighter and smoother skin. It’s a non-surgical treatment that relies on the body’s own, natural healing powers resulting in a refreshed, firmer and more youthful appearance. It has been a popular treatment amongst celebrities and patients since, as it is highly effective and is a less-invasive, more natural alternative to a surgical facelift.

Microneedling with SkinPen treatment is a widely popular advanced skin-needling treatment that is FDA approved and is clinically proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of acne scarring and wrinkles to reveal smoother, tighter, brighter looking skin. SkinPen was introduced in the UK at the end of 2016 and has since then ‘Set the gold standard in Microneedling’. SkinPen continues to gain Doctors’ approval as it is minimally invasive with little to no downtime, and with appointments being carried out 30 days apart, patients can improve their skin appearance, leaving our Clinic feeling confident and happy with their results. Skinpen has many benefits including being able to treat all areas of the body, including the face, back, neck and chest and that is it suitable on all skin types.

We continue to see an increase in laser treatments and in particular, Laser Skin Resurfacing. This treatment is carried out with the Ipixel laser that safely and effectively targets many skin concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, crepey skin, acne scarring, and enlarged pores, and more. it works simply by the laser producing energy in the mid infrared invisible light spectrum which can be used to precisely target the area, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. This creates a controlled thermal injury or wound that leads to the remodelling of collagen and improved skin texture. The laser skin resurfacing treatment is a favourable option for patients who can allow for some moderate downtime.

A body treatment that is on every body’s lips at the moment, is Aqualax. Aqualyx is a fat dissolving and body sculpting treatment and a non-surgical solution to minimise and remove localised pockets of fat around the body. Liposuction may be too much of an invasive or extreme solution for patients, that is why Aqualux is an excellent alternative solution to targeting fat removal in a safe and effective manner, particularly in the areas that prove to be a bit stubborn such as the stomach, and thighs. Aqualyx is a gel-based solution injected into the skin that causes the fat cells to dissolve. The body then naturally flushes these fatty acids from the body.

And there you have it!
